Movement Acquires Canopy, Bringing Vault Infrastructure In-House

Announcement

Movement has acquired Canopy, bringing vault infrastructure in-house as the network builds out its full financial stack.

Canopy has been a core part of the Movement ecosystem since early in its development, building vault infrastructure directly on the network. With this acquisition, that infrastructure now belongs to Movement.

What Canopy does

Canopy is Movement's vault layer deployed on the Movement Network. Its smart contracts let users and independent curators allocate assets and compose strategies on-chain. Combined with MovePosition, an on-chain credit protocol on the Movement Network, Movement is deepening the core components of financial infrastructure built on the network fromend-to-end.

Why this matters

Most networks depend on third-party infrastructure for the financial primitives their ecosystem runs on. Movement is taking a different path. Bringing Canopy in-house is intended to support tighter technical coordination between vault contracts and other components built on the network.

For builders, this means cleaner, more direct integrations against actively developed contracts. For partners, it means working with infrastructure and a team  that contributes upstream to the infrastructure they rely on. For users, it means a more consistent experience across the products built on the network. Regardless, independent applications using Canopy's contracts may determine their own product features, fees, eligibility, and user experience.

What comes next

MovePosition and Canopy will work increasingly closely as unified infrastructure. We'll have more to share on how that comes together in the weeks ahead.
