Movement Selects Yuzu as its Primary DEX

After a thorough and competitive Request for Protocol process, Movement has designated Yuzu as its recommended decentralized exchange on the Movement Network, recognizing Yuzu’s longstanding contributions to the Movement Network ecosystem.
The Movement Network is designed to support a broad onchain financial ecosystem, and the trading and liquidity layer is one of the foundational components of that ecosystem. That is why we ran a formal RFP process, evaluating candidates on technical architecture, capital efficiency, ecosystem alignment, and long-term commitment to the Movement mission. Yuzu earned the designation.
Why one primary DEX
A thriving DeFi ecosystem needs a reliable, deep liquidity anchor. When liquidity fragments across too many venues, the result is wider spreads, higher slippage, diluted incentive programs, and a harder experience for builders and users alike.
For purposes of administering ecosystem development resources, Movement has identified a single liquidity venue that every application, every liquidity provider, and every trader can anchor to - one that sets the standard for what DeFi on Movement looks and feels like.
That does not mean a closed ecosystem. It means having a true center of gravity.
For builders: Developers deploying on Movement can build against a well-integrated liquidity primitive. No fragmented routing decisions. No guessing where the depth lives.
For liquidity providers: Concentrating ecosystem-development resources at a single venue is intended to support deeper pools and a more cohesive liquidity environment for the ecosystem.
For traders: One primary venue means tighter spreads, lower slippage, and a consistent experience that reflects the speed and efficiency of the Movement Network itself.
Why Yuzu
Yuzu was not selected because they were the newest contender. They were selected because they have been here the longest and have earned it.
Yuzu has contributed to the Movement Network ecosystem before mainnet. Yuzu's team has consistently aligned its product development with the technical needs of ecosystem participants and has delivered tailored solutions when ecosystem participants requested them. When the Movement Network needed something specific (a new pool structure, a tailored liquidity solution, a faster turnaround) Yuzu delivered. That kind of proactive movement is rare, and it does not go unnoticed.
One more thing matters: Yuzu is permissionless at the protocol level, while user access to any front-end interface is governed by the operator of that interface and applicable law. This means any project can deploy a pool. Any builder can integrate. Any user can participate without bespoke gatekeeping or friction. That aligns directly with Movement's commitment to open, accessible, and composable infrastructure.
The technical architecture speaks for itself.
What Yuzu brings to Movement
Concentrated Liquidity Market Making (CLMM)
Yuzu operates as a Concentrated Liquidity Market Maker - the same architecture that redefined capital efficiency in DeFi. Rather than spreading liquidity evenly across all possible prices, Yuzu lets liquidity providers focus their capital within targeted price ranges. The result: more capital doing more work, with lower with the goal of reducing slippage for traders. Liquidity providers may earn fees in accordance with Yuzu's published fee structure; outcomes depend on market conditions, individual positions, and other factors outside Movement’s control.
For Movement builders integrating liquidity primitives, this means a DEX architecture designed for capital efficiency that builders can integrate as a liquidity primitive.
Flexible Fee Tiers Built for Every Market
Yuzu offers a tiered fee structure designed to match the risk profile of each trading pair:
0.01% - For proven, historically stable pairs
0.05% - For highly correlated pairs such as stablecoins (e.g., USDT-USDC)
0.25% - For standard pairs
1.00% - For exotic or highly volatile pairs
Yuzu's tiered fee structure is designed to align fees with the volatility profile of each pair. LPs are compensated appropriately for the risk they take. Traders get competitive pricing across the full spectrum of assets. Trading and liquidity provision involve risk, including loss of principal.
LP Position NFTs - Ownership Made Portable
Every liquidity position on Yuzu is represented as an NFT. That means LPs hold full, transferable ownership of their position-including accrued fees and rewards, within their chosen price range. Positions can be transferred, traded on secondary markets, or managed dynamically as conditions change.
Built for Movement from the Ground Up
Yuzu was designed specifically for the Movement Network - built to leverage Movement's throughput, low transaction costs, and non-custodial framework to deliver a trading experience that feels native to the network, not bolted on.
What this means starting May 14
As of May 14, Movement's incentive programs shifts to reflect Yuzu's designation as the primary DEX. This is how we grow the ecosystem the right way: concentrating resources where they create the most compounding value for builders and users. Movement administers these programs in furtherance of its mandate to support the Movement Network ecosystem.
Yuzu's permissionless architecture means this transition is additive, not exclusive - the door is open for any project that wants to build on top of a best-in-class liquidity layer.
What's next
Yuzu's selection as Movement's primary DEX is the beginning of a deeper chapter, not a conclusion. Together, we will be expanding liquidity programs, deepening integrations with Movement-native protocols, and building the trading infrastructure that makes Movement DeFi the destination for serious participants.
